At Home Office, our Operations Teams purchases the best supplies and then manufactures and distributes great food and cookware products through our Consultant network. 

The Sales and Marketing department guides the Consultants to success by creating and providing promotional material, training, catalogues, recipes, recognition events, and call center support.  Our Innovation, Research + Development Team creates new products and continually fine tunes our formulas for maximum taste and quality. 

Our innovative Technology Team is focused to enhance and upgrade our systems and processes for ease of operation, communication and reporting.

Our Finance and Support Teams ensures that the “beans” are counted properly and we are poised to support both our Home Team Members and our Consultants in the best way possible.

Under the general supervision of the Director Quality & Regulatory, the Quality Assurance Supervisor’s primary responsibilities and accountabilities include the creation and effective management of the organization’s quality programs and regulatory compliance to ensure overall product safety and quality.

As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be accountable for ensuring raw materials and finished products adhere to all applicable food safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and assess them with other stakeholders to determine successful provider.
  • Locate manufacturers for goods with provided designs and design specifications.
  • Source raw materials (cookware) and packaging as per Epicure’s specifications.
  • Collaborate with designers and product developers to assess each option for supply ability, quality and price.
  • Participate in the development of specifications for products to build requests for pricing.
  • Evaluate pre-production samples for quality and ensure Epicure’s high standards and expectations are met.
  • Develop AQLs (acceptable quality levels) in collaboration with our Quality Assurance Department to facilitate QA checks for incoming products.
  • Resolve any quality issues with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Prepare progress reports and attend weekly update meetings.

Key Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Supply Chain Management with increasing responsibilities in various roles.
  • An understanding of excellent manufacturing processes and inventory-management systems.
  • Sense of urgency with initiative and able to deliver as required by several parties.
  • Good knowledge of production practices, shipping practices, and procedures.

Warehouse Team Member

Under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Team Member is responsible for the safe operation of warehouse material handling equipment for the purpose of receiving, transporting, storing, unloading, locating, relocating, stacking, staging and counting merchandise.

The Warehouse Team member has the overall responsibility to receive, maintain and organize all goods and inventory in our warehouses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving (shared responsibility) - Check product being received with description and quantity ordered on purchase orders and packing slips recording all shortages, overages or damaged products. Complete required paperwork and distribute on a daily basis.
  • Inspect for and ensure damaged goods are reported on carrier waybills to facilitate the claims process.
  • Responsible for transportation of freight from the dock area to the proper storage area in a safe and timely manner. Prepare and affix pallet tags. Efficiently stack and store all incoming merchandise in the appropriate areas or deliver to designated department or individual.
  • Prepare, pull and/or stage raw materials, containers and products for shipping and production areas.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of warehouse material handling equipment for the purpose of receiving, transporting, storing, unloading, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise.
  • Ensure efficient and timely loading of shipping trailers.
  • Operate forklift, power jack and any other warehouse material handling equipment in compliance with Epicure SOPs (Standard Operating Practices).
  • Maintain effective communication with all required departments to ensure an efficient workflow process. Maintain contact with Supervisor to receive direction, exchange information, seek expertise and find solutions to problems.
  • Provide on the job training for new employees.
  • Assist with physical inventory count which may occur on a weekend or statutory holiday.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.

Education & Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in related position
  • Valid Forklift License an asset
  • knowledge of driving, stocking and replenishing skills in maneuvering material handling equipment in difficult situations such as heavy traffic, crowded conditions, wet, slippery and uneven floors and at high heights

Production Planner

The Production Planner ensures that product supply requirements are met, manufacturing capacity is utilized efficiently, & that all stakeholders are aware of associated resource requirements. This role works closely with stakeholders across the operation, including demand planning, manufacturing, purchasing, QA, warehouse, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish long and short term master production schedule (MPS) based on demand plan & complete updates as required.
  • Generate, maintain, and advise on resource planning & procurement requirements.
  • Advise on capacity & resource requirements to ensure supply of manufactured goods.
  • Ensure that inventory objectives (i.e. A, B, C) are met and incorporated into the plan.
  • Monitor inventory levels of manufactured inventory/components and ensure stakeholders are informed of shortfall and surplus items.
  • Interpret and use reports that advise, sales performance, product launch and promotion schedules, component availability, and production throughput to inform & adjust the supply plan.
  • Generate reports to inform inventory (including new and promoted products), component inventory, process cell performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Collect and analyze production and inventory data to aid in decision making.
  • Troubleshoot supply challenges through collaboration with other departmental stakeholders (Purchasing, Production, QA, Warehouse) to identify options to resolve.
  • Maintain a high level of communication between manufacturing leadership on key supply challenges, service levels, and deliverables.
  • Generate shop floor schedules, advise on product sequencing, and issue work orders to the shop floor.  

Education & Experience:

  • Education in manufacturing processes, inventory control, quality systems and purchasing preferred.

Food Scientist

Quality Assurance Supervisor

Under the general supervision of the Director Quality & Regulatory, the Quality Assurance Supervisor’s primary responsibilities and accountabilities include the creation and effective management of the organization’s quality programs and regulatory compliance to ensure overall product safety and quality.

As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be accountable for ensuring raw materials and finished products adhere to all applicable food safety and regulatory standards. You will develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to Quality Assurance, HACCP plans, third-party certifications, and operational processes. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will have a significant role in transitioning new products from Research and Development into operations, and as such will be ensuring all requisite standards and regulatory requirements have been considered. You will be developing plans and objectives for the Quality department’s contribution toward achieving corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation and management of Quality Processes, including Raw Material Inspections, Finished Product Inspections, Material Investigations, Document Management, Change Control, Deviations, Preventative Actions, and Auditing
  • Manage the team of QA technologists by providing feedback and encouraging continuous growth and development
  • Verifying compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Canadian legislation regarding product formulation, manufacturing, labeling, packaging, site licensing, quality assurance for importation into and/or sale for domestic and foreign clients in Canada
  • Performing QA/QC role including review of batch records, certificate of analyses and printed materials for completeness, accuracy and regulatory compliance, identifying errors, missing information and deviations, review of testing results, product releases and product stability, comparing results to current specifications to assure product quality
  • Writing SOPs in accordance with relevant regulations/guidelines
  • Liaising with federal regulators as needed and ensuring compliance with all applicable Canadian regulations related to food safety and quality, including the Food and Drug Act, FSMA, the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act, and the provincial Public Health Act
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regional and national Health Canada regulations, guidelines and advisory documents.
  • Works with the Purchasing department to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
  • General management of the allergen program and HACCP plan, including ensuring adherence to new and emerging regulatory requirements or industry standards.
  • Advise in the creation of internal company quality standards
  • Manage and maintain any operations-related third-party certifications, including Kosher certification
  • Proactive monitoring of pending regulatory and compliance issues, and recommending actions to take in response to such
  • Manage finished product shelf life studies / test programs for all NHPs manufactured and packed by third party manufacturers;
  • Ensure that all manufactured products meet the highest standards of food safety and quality
  • Work closely with R&D in developing new products specifications
  • Establish material testing programs relevant to product safety and quality, including microbial and chemical testing as necessary (whether in-house or third party)
  • Provide expertise in chemical and microbial test result analysis
  • Learning & following safe work procedures, and reporting any potential work related hazards to JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee).
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in all departments to ensure that organizational procedures are developed, followed, and maintained
  • Investigate and resolve all material inquiries related to product quality
  • Play a lead role in the ongoing development of a Culture of Quality
  • Develop plans and objectives for the Quality department in line with company goals
  • Be an engaged and effective member of the company’s Leadership Team
  • Any other duties as required by Epicure

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry/ Food Science or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in Quality Management and/or lab testing environments in a food or food-related industry
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures and HACCP as it relates to manufacturing or laboratory environments
  • Knowledge and experience of writing Standard Operating Procedures for manufacturing environments
  • Ability to analyze, organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a timeline-driven environment with limited supervision
  • Be able to thrive in an environment of growth and change
